Speed control

So, another practice that ended with me leaving the scene of the crime.

I could clearly see that we are going down that road once again: the fidgeting with the feet, the whining... I know I could still have put the gear in neutral and ease it back to reverse. Instead, like every other time, I put my foot on the speed pedal and went straight over the edge of the grand canyon.

It only takes a look of annoyance, one after many that I've ignored, that propels me to get up and leave the room. I don't get angry anymore. I just quietly go to my room and turn on my laptop. I know, I know, rule #1, you should never leave during a fight. I know how that drives me mad. But really, nothing could keep me there at that moment.

Crash...bang...

But miracles of all miracles, we survive. Once again, I say, I'll be more patient. And that child of mine, says she will be nicer.

What will it take for me to remember that I am the adult with the driver's license, and that 8-year old is a passenger. I am in the driver's seat. I need to take my foot off the pedal.

I think this leaving the room thing is a brilliant strategy. I must try that. So much better than yelling and screaming.:-)

PS I do fear that that child of yours is as clever as her mother. Oh dear...
